Mexico ’s Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, González Blanco, resigned recently because of her late business trip on a commercial airliner, leaving all passengers and crew on board, causing flight delays and drawing public and media criticism.
Gonzalez-Branco posted a letter on a social network admitting that a flight had been delayed waiting for her.
The Associated Press reported that the flight waiting for Gonzales Blanco ended up being an hour and a half late. Later, Mexican President Lopez said in a speech that he accepted Gonzales Blanco's resignation.
Lopez took office in December and vowed to fight corruption and rectify privileges. In order to implement the election slogan, he took the initiative to reduce his salary by 60%, reduce the number of security guards, and travel by civil aviation.
Gonzalez Blanco is the second cabinet member to submit his resignation in less than a week. Hermani Martinez Casares, director of the Social Security Association of Mexico's main public health system, also recently submitted his resignation because he was dissatisfied with the government's cuts in medical spending.
